Event: Discovering Atoms! Presented by the UM’s Science Outreach Department (Building 7)
This interactive experience offers a unique exploration of the world of atoms. Come discover what lies behind Dmitri Mendeleev’s periodic table of elements through the fun and interactive web documentary *Atome Hôtel*. The importance of atoms in our daily lives will be revealed through a light-up display representing the famous periodic table and housing a multitude of “atomic” objects. The event will also feature experiments to demonstrate the connections between atoms and colors.
Presentation: The Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) at ENSCM
A tool for producing high-resolution images of object surfaces. Many scientific fields—such as materials science, nanotechnology, and biology—use this technique to study microstructures in order to better understand certain properties of their samples.
Come take a closer look at matter and discover the microscopic world!
