April 5 to 7, 2018: 29th Math en jeans convention

The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Montpellier is hosting the annual MATh.en.JEANS* Congress on April 5-6-7, 2018, on the Triolet Campus.

Since 1989, the MATh.en.JEANS association has been bringing mathematics to life for young people, based on the principles of mathematical research.

The association promotes and coordinates research workshops in schools, from elementary school to university, with the participation of researchers, and recreates life in a mathematics laboratory.

It gives young people from all backgrounds and all levels of education the opportunity to meet researchers and practice a genuine scientific approach, with both theoretical and applied dimensions, and if possible in touch with current research themes.

In April, students present their work at the congress, in the form of amphitheater talks, animations and posters, and are encouraged to write them up for online publication on the association's website. The congress is also an opportunity for participants to meet numerous researchers, attend lectures and play with mathematics in a variety of ways.

At this year's congress, the IREM de Montpellier will welcome some 650 people, including 550 secondary school students from the greater Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée region, who will have the opportunity to discover mathematics at university level.
