Jean-Michel MARIN is the new Director of Montpellier's Faculty of Sciences

The Board of the Faculty of Science of the University of Montpellier met on Wednesday April 27 toelect the new Director of the UFR Sciences.

Jean-Michel Marin was elected by a majority: 26 votes out of 39 (including 1 blank).

Jean-Michel Marin, University Professor, teaches Statistics and Numerical Probability in the Mathematics Department and carries out his research work at the Institut Montpellierrain Alexander Grothendieck (IMAG). After completing his PhD in Toulouse, he was a lecturer at Université Paris Dauphine, then a researcher at Orsay and a teacher at Ecole Polytechnique. Since moving to Montpellier, he has headed IMAG and chaired the Société Française de Statistique.

Outgoing Deputy Director, in charge of the component's scientific policy, he will succeed AlainHoffmann, who was elected Vice-President in charge of simplifying teaching processes and tools at the January 10, 2022 meeting of the Board of Directors of the University of Montpellier.

The new Director will take up his post on April 28, 2022.
