Jean-Michel MARIN has been appointed the new Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at Montpellier
The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Montpellier met on Wednesday, April 27, to
elect the new Director of the Faculty of Sciences.
Jean-Michel Marin was elected by a majority: 26 votes out of 39 voters (including 1 blank ballot).
Jean-Michel Marin, a university professor, teaches Numerical Statistics and Probability in the Department of Mathematics and conducts his research at the Montpellier Alexander Grothendieck Institute (IMAG). After completing his dissertation in Toulouse, he served as an associate professor at Paris Dauphine University, then as a researcher at Orsay and a lecturer at the École Polytechnique. Since arriving in Montpellier, he has served as director of IMAG and president of the French Statistical Society.
The outgoing deputy director, who was in charge of the division’s scientific policy, will succeedAlain Hoffmann, who was elected Deputy Vice President for the Simplification of Teaching Processes and Tools at the University of Montpellier’s Board of Trustees meeting on January 10, 2022.
