The Hydrocontest:
This is an event organized by the Hydros Foundation: it is the first international student competition focused on energy efficiency in nautical and maritime applications. The event is centered around the key themes of Technology, Collaboration, Innovation, and Research. It aims to raise awareness among future engineers and architects about a common challenge: “TRANSPORT MORE, FASTER, WHILE CONSUMING LESS ENERGY.” To achieve this, students must design, build, and operate the most energy-efficient boat.
Why the Hydrocontest:
The goal is to raise awareness among the engineers of tomorrow about the design of efficient marine technologies—technologies that can also be applied to industry—and to enable the most promising projects to be launched and developed in order to improve the environmental footprint of maritime transport.
Contest rules:
The contest consists of three separate races: light boat (20 kg payload), heavy boat (200 kg payload), and the endurance race (lasting the longest and completing the most laps on a single charge).
