Board meeting of March 20, 2019

The Council, chaired by Alain Hoffmann, Director of the Faculty of Science, was held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the Salle des Actes on the Triolet Campus of the University of Montpellier.

Thefollowing newsitems were discussed:

  • Introduction of Mr Christian ASSAF, newly-appointedrepresentative of the Occitanie Region.
  • Presentation of the eventFêtede la Sciencewhichwill take place from Saturday 05 to Sunday 13 October 2019. For more information,click here orcontact the organizers by e-mail at:fds34@umontpellier.fr.

The following items were on the agenda:

  • The Board approved the change ofname of the Department of Earth, Water and Environmental Sciences -DESTEEM - to the Department of Earth, Water and Environmental Sciences - TEE - of the Montpellier Faculty of Science.
  • Fromtraining projectswere presented to the meeting:
    • Eco-Epidemiology of Parasitic and Infectious Emergences - Eco-EPI -. This course would comprise 2 tracks: "Integrated Study of Emergence - EIE" and "Management and Surveillance of Emergence - GSE". The project was presented by Catherine Moulia, Professor in the Biology and Ecology Department.
    • Reformatage du Cursus HYDRE et la création du parcours international Water scIenceS and managEment for a Changing World (WISE). These courses would be part of the Water master's program. These projects were presented by Séverin Pistre, professor in the TEE teaching department.

The Board of the Faculty of Science gave a unanimous opinion on the possibility of offering these courses.

  • TheMaster of Engineeringcurriculum was presented by Thierry Bretagnon, Head of CMI. The Board approved the creation of a CMI working group within the framework of the LMD5.
  • Results of theTake off 2 call for projects: 8 projects submitted by teachers from the Faculty of Science were funded:
    • The " Laboratoire d'Innovation Pédagogique en Sciences" project ,The " Bioinfo Learning Lab" project ,
    • The " BioCell Pursuit" project ,
    • The " MEME" project,
    • The " Chem'Scape" project,
    • The " PlatiniUM" project,
    • The " Bio'Scape" project,
    • The " Creation of a Master's Degree in Wood Sciences" project.

Marc Herzlich, Deputy Director of the Faculty's Heritage Department, gave an update on forthcoming "Campus Plan" works, particularly concerning buildings 5, 6, 20, 35 and 36.

In view of the work planned on the Triolet campus, the Board agreed in principle to the 1st semesterof the calendar. It was stressed that it would be difficult to draw up a schedule for the1stand2ndsemester exams, and that there would be a shortage of rooms following the work.
