* March 8: International Women's Day
Officialized by the United Nations in 1977, International Women's Day has its origins in the struggles of the early 20th century, when women workers and suffragettes fought for better working conditions, and for the right to vote, which was not won in France until 1944.
For almost 40 years, this international day of events has been an opportunity to take stock of the situation faced by women around the world. A day of struggle for women's rights, it remains a burning issue.
