WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL SPONSORSHIP?
This personalized welcome program allows newly arrived international students (mentees) in Montpellier, Nîmes, and Perpignan to receive support and guidance from student volunteers (mentors) during their first two months of settling in.
SINCE 2011, 3,000 SPONSORS HAVE SUPPORTED MORE THAN 6,300 SPONSORED CHILDREN FROM OVER 90 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!
What is the role of a sponsor?
- Exchange emails with your mentee before they arrive
- Pick them up on the day of their arrival (at the train station or airport) and accompany them to their home
- Help him with certain administrative tasks if he wishes: opening a bank account, setting up a phone or internet service, etc.
What are the requirements to become a sponsor?
- Being a Student in 2020–2021
- Have completed one year of study in Montpellier, Nîmes, and Perpignan
- Be fluent in French and have a good command of another language
- Have some free time in January and February 2021 (about 2 hours per week)
Why become a volunteer?
- Discovering other cultures and sharing one's own
- Facilitate the integration of new international students
- Making friends
- Sponsors receive many gifts, includingtickets to various events and goodie bags handed out at our different events…
- A certificate attesting to volunteer participation in the program may be issued at the end of the program, upon request by the mentor.
