WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL SPONSORSHIP?
This personalized welcome program allows international students who are new to Montpellier, Nîmes, and Perpignan (mentees) to be supported and guided by student volunteers (mentors) during their first two months in the city.
SINCE 2011, 3,000 SPONSORS HAVE SUPPORTED MORE THAN 6,300 SPONSORED CHILDREN FROM OVER 90 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!
What is the role of the sponsor?
- Exchange emails with your godchild before their arrival
- Meet them on the day of their arrival (at the train station or airport) and accompany them to their home.
- Assist him with certain administrative procedures if he wishes: opening a bank account, setting up a telephone/internet line, etc.
What are the requirements to become a sponsor?
- Being a student in 2020/2021
- Have completed one year of study in Montpellier, Nîmes, and Perpignan
- Be fluent in French and have a good knowledge of another language
- Have some free time in January and February 2021 (approximately 2 hours per week)
Why become a volunteer?
- Discovering other cultures and sharing one's own
- Facilitating the integration of new international students
- Make friends
- Many gifts are offered to sponsors:tickets to various events, goodie bags handed out at our various events, etc.
- A certificate proving volunteer involvement in the program can be issued at the end of the event, upon request by the sponsor.
