IRES – Math C2+ Workshop: Math workshop for middle and high school girls
The MathC2+ project is a program in partnership withthe Ministry of National Education andthe Mathematical Society of France, aimed at organizing mathematics workshops for motivated students in the 4e, 3e, and 2de grades, on a voluntary basis. The program is specifically designed for students who do not have an environment conducive to pursuing a long-term scientific education. These are not remedial or catch-up courses.
In Montpellier, these training sessions are organized by teaching teams led by educational inspectors in collaboration with the IRES department in Montpellier.
The April workshop took place on the 25th, 26th, and 27th at IRES, with the theme “Mathematics and Computer Science.” Sixteen girls, 6 sophomores from Jules Guesde High School and 10 eighth-graders from Escholiers de la Mosson and Les Garrigues middle schools, were welcomed over the course of these three days and were able to participate in various workshops, as well as attend presentations, a “Girls, Math, and Computer Science” discussion, and a screening and discussion of “Hidden Figures” at the Science Library.
