IRES – Math C2+ Course: Math course for middle and high school girls

The MathC2+ project is a program in partnership withthe Ministry of National Education andthe French Mathematical Society,aimed at organizing mathematics workshops for motivated students in 4e, 3e, and 2de grades on a voluntary basis. The program is specifically aimed at students who do not have an environment conducive to developing a long-term plan for studying science. These are not remedial or catch-up courses.

In Montpellier, these training sessions are organized by teaching teams led by educational inspectors in collaboration with the Montpellier IRES department.

The April workshop took place on the 25th, 26th, and 27th at IRES, with the theme “Mathematics and Computer Science.” Sixteen girls, 6 sophomore students from Jules Guesde High School and 10 ninth-grade students from Escholiers de la Mosson and Les Garrigues middle schools, were welcomed over the course of these three days and were able to participate in various workshops, as well as attend presentations, a “Girls, Math, and Computer Science” discussion, and a screening and discussion of “Hidden Figures” at the Science Library.
