IRES - Stage Math C2+: Mathematics course for middle and high school girls

The MathC2+ project is a partnership between the French Ministry ofEducation andtheFrench MathematicalSociety, whoseaim is to organize mathematics courses for motivated students in 4th, 3rd and 2nd grades, on a voluntary basis. In particular, the program is aimed at students who do not benefit from an environment conducive to the development of long-term scientific studies. These are not support or refresher courses.

In Montpellier, these courses are organized by teaching teams led by educational inspectors in conjunction with the Montpellier IRES department.

The April course took place on April 25, 26 and 27 at the IRES, with the theme of "Mathematics and Computing". 16 girls, 6 second-year students from the Lycée Jules Guesde and 10 third-year students from the collèges des Escholiers de la Mosson and des Garrigues, were welcomed during these 3 days and were able to attend various workshops, as well as presentations, a "Girls, Mathematics, Computers" meeting and a screening/debate of "Hidden Figures" at the BU sciences.
