IRES – Math C2+ Course: Mathematics course for middle and high school girls

The MathC2+ project is a program in partnership withthe French Ministry of Education andthe French Mathematical Society, whichaims to organize mathematics internships for motivated students in grades 8, 9, and 10 on a voluntary basis. The program is particularly aimed at students who do not have an environment conducive to the development of a long-term scientific study project. These are not support or refresher courses.

In Montpellier, these training courses are organized by teaching teams led by educational inspectors in conjunction with the IRES department in Montpellier.

The April internship took place on the 25th, 26th, and 27th at IRES and focused on the theme of "Mathematics and Computer Science." Sixteen girls, six 10th-grade students from Jules Guesde High School and ten 9th-grade students from Escholiers de la Mosson and Garrigues middle schools, were welcomed for these three days and were able to attend various workshops, as well as presentations, a "Girls, Mathematics, Computer Science" meeting, and a screening/discussion of "Hidden Figures" at the science library.
