For over 1,000 years, from 2500 to 1200 BCE, spanning the 5th to the 20th Dynasties, the Egyptians undertook maritime expeditions to the land of Punt to procure spices, particularly myrrh (Commiphora myrrha). For what purpose? And, above all, where is this region that Egyptologists struggle to locate on a map?
