November 28, 2022 - Young Student Novel Award

Author Claire Baglin will be present on Monday November 28th at 6pm in amphitheater 1 of building 36 to talk about her novel "En salle", published by Editions de Minuit.

She will be interviewed by UM students, and the discussion will be followed by questions from the audience, both present and via videoconference. This event is open to all, and we hope to see many of you there.

His first novel, selected by France Culture and Télérama, takes an original approach to the theme of fast-food work.

On a children's menu, you'll find a well-wrapped burger, fries, a drink, sauces, a toy - the stuff of dreams. And then, a few years later, you're preparing orders at the drive-thru, wiping tables, obeying managers: you're working at a fast-food restaurant. In two alternating narratives, the narrator of En salle recounts this gap. On the one hand, a childhood marked by the figure of a working-class father. On the other, her twenties in a fast-food restaurant, where she encounters repetitive gestures, a body put to the test, emptiness and alienation.

Claire Baglin was born in 1998. En salle is her first novel.
