His first novel, selected by France Culture and Télérama, takes an original approach to the theme of working in fast-food restaurants.

On a kids’ menu, you’ll find a neatly wrapped burger, fries, a drink, sauces, and a toy—it’s a dream come true. And then, a few years later, you’re preparing orders at the drive-thru, wiping down tables, and following managers’ orders: you’re working at a fast-food restaurant. Through two alternating narratives, the narrator of *En salle* recounts this gap. On one hand, a childhood shaped by the figure of a working-class father. On the other, her twenty years at a fast-food restaurant, where she encounters repetitive motions, a body pushed to its limits, emptiness, and alienation.

Claire Baglin was born in 1998. *En salle* is her first novel.
