GENHYO Project: The FdS Trains College and High School Teachers on the Topic of Hydrogen
As part of the GENHYO project (Call for Expressions of Interest, Skills and Professions of the Future), Gilles Taillades and Pierre-Yves Blanchard, faculty members in the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences in Montpellier, organized the first two days of training for higher education and secondary school teachers in the Occitanie region on the topic of hydrogen.
In the near future, the widespread adoption of hydrogen will contribute to decarbonizing the energy mix and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This energy carrier will be produced in a clean, safe, and carbon-free manner using renewable energy through water electrolysis, and its storage will help mitigate the intermittency of renewable energy sources.
The goal of this initiative was to train a first generation of instructors who will be responsible for raising awareness and educating a very large audience (15,000 schoolchildren and students per year).
These training sessions provided an overview of the hydrogen value chain—from production to end uses—and offered hands-on training on the educational demonstration stations that will be widely deployed in schools across the academic region.
Mr. Duchiron, Deputy Director of the Montpellier Regional Education Office and representative of the Superintendent, was able to tour the chemistry lab where classes are held and meet with the teachers.
Proud of our Faculty, Proud of our Faculty Members.
