GENHYO Project: FdS trains higher education and secondary school teachers on the topic of hydrogen
As part of the GENHYO project (Call for Expressions of Interest, Skills and Professions of the Future), Gilles Taillades and Pierre-Yves Blanchard, lecturers and researchers in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Sciences at Montpellier, organized the first two days of training on the theme of hydrogen for higher education and secondary school teachers in the Occitanie region.
In the near future, the widespread deployment of hydrogen will contribute to the decarbonization of the energy mix and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This energy carrier will be produced in a clean, safe, and carbon-free manner from renewable energies through water electrolysis, and its storage will help to compensate for the intermittency of renewable energies.
The aim of this initiative was to train a first generation of trainers who will be responsible for raising awareness and acculturating a very large audience (15,000 schoolchildren and students per year).
These training sessions provided an overview of the hydrogen value chain, from production to use, and offered practical training on teaching benches that will be widely deployed in schools across the academic region.
Mr. Duchiron Drafpica, assistant and representative of the Rector at the Montpellier Rectorate, was able to visit the room (Chemistry Hall) where the training courses take place and meet the teachers.
Proud of our Faculty, proud of our teachers.
