GENHYO project: FdS trains higher education and secondary school teachers on hydrogen issues

As part of the GENHYO project (Appel à Manifestation d'Intérêt, Compétences et Métiers d'Avenir), Gilles Taillades and Pierre-Yves Blanchard, teacher-researchers in the Chemistry Department of Montpellier's Faculty of Science, organized the first 2 days of hydrogen training for teachers in higher and secondary education in the Occitanie region.

In the near future, the widespread deployment of hydrogen will help to decarbonize the energy mix and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This energy carrier will be produced cleanly, safely and carbon-free from renewable energies by electrolysis of water, and its storage will make up for the intermittent nature of renewable energies.

The aim of this initiative was to train a first generation of trainers who will be responsible for raising awareness and educating a very wide audience (15,000 schoolchildren and students per year).

These training sessions provided an overview of the hydrogen value chain, from production to use, and hands-on training on the teaching benches that will be widely deployed in schools in the academic region.

Mr Duchiron Drafpica, deputy and representative of Mme La rectrice at the Rectorat de Montpellier, was able to visit the hall (Halle de Chimie) where the training courses take place and meet the teachers.

Proud of our Faculty, Proud of our Teachers.
