Microclimate Workshop: University of Montpellier – National University of Singapore (UM-NUS)

These meetings are organized by Frédérique Carcaillet (Vice President for Sustainable Development, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering), Linda Sellou (National University of Singapore, NUS) and her students, Marine Zwicke (Departments of Civil Engineering and Bio-Mechanics, Faculty of Engineering), and Kieran Safran (student in the Department of Civil Engineering).

These events will take place fromMay 27 to 29 on the Triolet campus, andtheir objectives are:

  1. discuss our teaching practices and methodologies for monitoring the microclimate
  2. present the work done by our respective students (NUS and the Faculty of Science)
  3. work together to develop a common protocol for microclimate monitoring on our two campuses.

In this context, we are pleased to welcome Linda Sellou (lecturer, Department of Chemistry, NUS) and Ryan Phillips (student, Department of Chemistry, NUS), who have prepared aworkshop for uson building CO2, and will give two lectures titled:

  • “Designing an Undergraduate Fieldwork Project to StudyCO2Levels in Singapore” – this lecture will be in French
  • “Investigating CO2 concentrations at different elevations in Mount Faber Parks, Singapore”

These meetings will conclude with aroundtable discussionaimed at developing a joint protocol for monitoring climate, biodiversity, and air quality on our UM and NUS campuses. The proposed topics will be as follows:Temperature Monitoring – CO Concentration Monitoring – Biodiversity Monitoring – Database and Data Utilization
