Can I continue taking my classes while the school is closed?   

Class schedules will be adjusted during the closure period to accommodate students. These adjustments will be implemented gradually during the week of March 16–23.

Students can take classes remotely, including via the Moodle platform, according to their regular schedule, while interacting with their instructors. The curriculum will be adapted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific requirements of each program. You will receive information about these adjustments in due course.

How will the exams be conducted?        

Regarding ongoing assessments and early exams, adjustments will be made (alternative exams, remote exams, etc.). These adjustments will be decided on a case-by-case basis by your program coordinators and the directors of the academic departments. You will receive information about these adjustments in due course. Regarding final exams (Session 1 of Semester 2 and the make-up session): for the time being, they will proceed as scheduled and on the scheduled dates. Adjustments will be made to account for classes that could not be held.

If the host organization offers remote work, the internship may proceed; however, the internship supervisor must be notified so that the internship content can be adjusted accordingly. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have insurance coverage at their home or at their remote work location.

If the student is already in the destination country:

Internship agreements may be sent electronically to your training department for the employer’s signature; the department will provide you with the email address to use.

For apprenticeship students      

  • The CFA centers will be closed starting Monday, March 16;
  • Business operations will continue under the conditions established by the company (normal operations or reduced operations); whenever possible, telework should be prioritized;
  • Apprenticeship training centers are encouraged to use distance learning, and the university will keep apprenticeship students informed about how to access these courses;
  • Teachers are encouraged to conduct their classes remotely as much as possible. Relevant information regarding these classes will be sent to you directly by the departments.

 

For students on a vocational training contract              

  • Business operations will continue under the conditions established by the company (normal operations or reduced operations); whenever possible, telework should be prioritized;

Can international students studying at UL return to their home countries?              

International students who request it are permitted to return to their home countries.

 I am a student at the University of Montpellier currently studying abroad. What should I do?

Students who wish to remain abroad may do so provided they follow the guidelines issued by their host university. Some institutions are closed but are offering online courses.

Students who feel anxious and wish to return to France are also permitted to do so. They must notify the International Relations Coordinator at their academic department at the University of Montpellier.

If I return home before the end of my study abroad program due to the health situation, will I lose my study abroad grant?

Students at the University of Montpellier who receive a mobility grant should contact the International Relations Coordinator in their academic department so that the coordinator can notify the Office of International Relations, which will then inform the student of the available options.

If the student is enrolled at an international university, they should contact the International Relations Office at their home institution.


Can international students currently attending UM return to their home countries?

International students who request it are permitted to travel to their home country.

The university is closed to students. Can I come to work on the UM campus?

Staff, including doctoral students, at the University are asked to stay home, except for those whose presence is necessary to maintain the institution’s essential operations. These staff members will be contacted promptly by their supervisor.

 

What should I do if I stay home?

Telework is implemented as much as possible and necessary:

  • BIATSS staff can request a "mission" (in the time-tracking software) with the note "remote work" in order to work from home, provided that the technical requirements and the nature of their job permit it,
  • If that is not possible, administrative staff may request “time off from various credit days” for the workweek;
  • For the delivery of lessons, teachers must, as far as possible (excluding practical work and tutorials), use distance learning courses.

All business trips and travel are now prohibited, both abroad and within the country, except in specific cases necessitated by the Business Continuity Plan at the institution and its constituent units.

Commuting to and from work is now limited to staff assigned under the Business Continuity Plan.
