Courses – Exams / Classes – Exams

Can I continue taking my classes while the school is closed?   

The structure of classes will be adjusted to accommodate students during the closure. This adjustment will be implemented gradually during the week of March 16–23.

Students can take classes remotely—including through the Moodle platform—according to their regular schedule, while interacting with their instructors. The curriculum will be adapted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific requirements of each program. You will receive information about these adjustments in due course.

How will the exams be conducted?        

Regarding ongoing assessment exams and early exams, adjustments will be implemented (alternative exams, remote exams, etc.). These adjustments will be decided on a case-by-case basis by your program coordinators and the directors of the academic departments. You will receive information about these adjustments in due course. Regarding final exams (Session 1 of the second semester and the make-up session): for the time being, they will proceed as scheduled and on the planned dates. Adjustments will be made to account for coursework that could not be completed.

Internships

Students participating in internships or work-study programs (current or upcoming) at the University of Montpellier are subject to the institution’s current regulations.

Am I currently doing an internship, or did my internship start on or before March 13?

Current internships remain in effect: student interns must follow the guidelines of the host country (including France), their host company, or their host organization—provided that the organization is not subject to a shutdown.

Working from home is possible and should be the preferred option. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that they have insurance coverage at their home or at their remote work location.

If the internship is terminated by the host organization, the student must notify his or her internship advisor, who will work with the student to arrange for alternative assessment methods. A supporting document can be provided upon request to —————————————.

 In the case of an internship abroad, regardless of the country, the process for terminating the internship at the student’s request will be streamlined.

Apprentice students – continuing education students

For apprenticeship students      

• The CFAs will be closed starting Monday, March 16;
• Business operations will continue under the conditions established by the company (normal operations or reduced operations); whenever possible, telework should be prioritized;
• CFAs are encouraged to use distance learning, and the university will keep apprenticeship students informed about how to access these courses;
• Teachers are encouraged to conduct their classes remotely as much as possible. Relevant information regarding these classes will be sent to you directly by the departments.

 

For students on a professional training contract

Can international students enrolled at UL return to their home countries?              

International students who request it are permitted to return to their home countries.

 I am a student at the University of Montpellier currently studying abroad. What should I do?

Students who wish to remain abroad may do so by following the guidelines issued by their host university. Some institutions are closed but are offering distance learning options.

If I return home before the end of my international mobility period due to the health situation, will I lose my mobility grant?

The university is closed to students. Can I come to work on the UM campus?

Staff, including doctoral students, at the University are asked to stay home, except for those whose presence is necessary to maintain the institution’s essential operations. These staff members will be contacted promptly by their line manager.

 

What should I do if I stay home?

Telework is implemented as much as possible and necessary:

• BIATSS staff can request a “mission” (in the work-time management software) with the comment “remote work” in order to work from home, provided that the technical conditions and the nature of their job allow it,
• If that is not possible, administrative staff may request “absences from various credit days” for the workweek;
• For the delivery of lessons, teachers must, as far as possible (excluding hands-on work and tutorials), use distance learning courses.

Travel and Business Trips / Travel and Missions

All business trips and assignments are now prohibited, both abroad and within the country, except in specific cases necessitated by the Business Continuity Plan at the institution and its constituent units.
