EGEN Program: Environment and Natural Area Management

Environment and Natural Area Management (EGEN) Program
Dual-degree program with UQAT’s Master’s in Ecology and Management of Forest Ecosystems
The Master’s program in Environment and Natural Area Management (EGEN), offered as a dual-degree program by the University of Montpellier (UM) and the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), provides an exceptional academic and cultural experience. Students complete a program split between France and Quebec and earn two degrees: the Master’s in Ecology and Management of Forest Ecosystems from UQAT and the Master’s in Biodiversity, Ecology, and Evolution with a concentration in Environment and Management of Natural Areas (EGEN) from UM.
This unique program promotes international mobility and exposure to two complementary scientific fields. Participants gain advanced skills in ecology, sustainable forest resource management, and the restoration of disturbed ecosystems, while benefiting from personalized guidance and immersion in two distinct academic cultures.
Designed for students interested in research and innovation, this program prepares students for both doctoral studies and international careers in the fields of applied ecology, forestry, and conservation. The program also offers students the opportunity to independently manage a research project, building their confidence and ability to take initiative, whether in an academic or professional setting.
