Reorientation at the Faculty of Sciences of Montpellier

Is your enrollment path no longer suitable for you and you would like to change it?
You may , depending on your eligibility, benefit from a reorientation to the Faculty of Sciences, starting in Semester 2.
Please refer to the drop-down menus below to find out about the essential requirements for your application based on your situation.
Please note: your application must be submitted only during the intersemester period on the dates indicated. Reorientation or transfers outside the Parcoursup/MonMaster procedure are not permitted at the beginning of the academic year.
To change your course at the beginning of the year, you must have beenaccepted on an application platform(Parcoursup/e-Candidat/MonMaster).
CALENDAR
The Reorientation Campaign will be open from mid-November to mid-December.
Your complete file must must be submitted before this date to the Education Department at the following address:
Any incomplete applications will not be considered.
Your application is submitted for consideration : you will be informed by return email of the educational decision that has been made.
Case 1: You are already enrolled in the Faculty of Science
Your request concerns:
=> A reorientation.
You may only request a change of major if:
=> You are registered at the Faculty of Sciences in a Bachelor's 2, Bachelor's 3, or Master's 2 program and wish to change your course of study within the same major.
Reorientations are not permitted for students enrolled in thefirst year of a degree program: Bachelor's 1 and Master's 1.
Except in certain exceptional cases: see the R3E of the Faculty of Science.
Changes to Bachelor's and Master's degrees are not permitted.
Application package contents:
- The Reorientation Form to be completed and signed;
- A detailed resume;
- A cover letter explaining and motivating your choice;
- A copy of your high school transcript and transcripts from higher education institutions;
- All documents supporting your application (diplomas, certificates, transcripts, credit certificates, programs, etc.).
Please attach your complete application by December 15 to fds.mitra@umontpellier.fr for your application to be considered.
If your application is accepted, you will also be able to apply for validation of prior learning to claim any TU have earned during yourfirst semester.
This request should be sent via the form to your course instructor for review and signature. This document must then be sent to your registrar's office for processing.

=> Transfer to another institution (outgoing transfer):
You can only request an outgoing transfer if:
- You want to leave the Faculty of Science for another institution outside the University of Montpellier ;
- You are in in good standing with the University of Montpellier (validated administrative file, payments up to date, no current bans, etc.);
- You are in good standing with the University Library (completed and signed release form).
To submit your request, please download the Outgoing Transfer form and send it to fds.mitra@umontpellier.fr.
Then return the form to the address fds.mitra@umontpellier, once completed and signed by your new host institution.
Your academic record will be sent to your new host institution.
Case 2: You are already enrolled in another department at the University of Montpellier
Your request concerns:
- A change of Component:
You may request a change of Component only if:
- You want to leave the Faculty of Science for another department at the University of Montpellier [Link to the list of Components];
- You are in in good standing with the University of Montpellier (validated administrative file, payments up to date, no current bans, etc.)
Studentsenrolled in another department who wish to transfer to the Faculty of Science during the inter-semester period are not permittedto do so.
To submit your request, please download the Component Change form and send it to the relevant department of the new host component.
Then return the completed and signedform to fds.mitra@umontpellier for validation.
Your new academic department will transfer your administrative registration to your host department if your application has been accepted.
Case 3: You are not enrolled at the University of Montpellier
Your request concerns a transfer during the academic year, between semesters:
You may apply for an incoming transfer during the academic year only if:
- You are not not enrolledat the University of Montpellier for the current academic year ;
- Your request concerns a training course that is exactly the same as the one you are currently taking (equivalent level of study and major).
Examples:
☑ you are currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Poitiers and would like to transfer to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the Faculty of Science at the University of Montpellier.
☒ You are currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences at the University of Lyon and would like to transfer to a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Montpellier.
Application package contents:
- The Incoming Transfer form to be completed and signed;
- All additional documents listed in the form;
Please attach the complete application by December 15 to fds.mitra@umontpellier.fr for your application to be considered.
If your application is accepted, you will be contacted to proceed with your administrative registration at the Faculty of Science.
This registration will be covered by your home institution, so you will not have to pay any registration fees.
You can also submit a request for validation of prior learning to claim any TU have earned during yourfirst semester.
This request should be sent via the form to your course instructor for review and signature. This document must then be sent to your registrar's office for processing.

CASE NO. 4: You are a student in CPGE (preparatory classes for the grandes écoles) and are also enrolled at the Faculty of Sciences.
You are administratively enrolled in the Faculty of Sciences in parallel with your CPGE course at an approved high school (see list below).

Under the agreement between the Faculty of Science and your institution, you can benefit from a change of major (no application required) in the program you selected during your administrative registration.
- If you are currently inyour first year of CPGE, you can change direction:
– At the end of thefirst semester for admission to the second semester of the first year of the bachelor's degree program in the current academic year;
– At the end of the academic year for admission to the second year of a bachelor's degree program in the third semester of the following year.
- If you are currently inyour second year of CPGE, you can change direction:
– At the end of thefirst semester for admission to the second year of the bachelor's degree program in the fourth semester of the current academic year;
– At the end of the academic year for admission to the third year of the bachelor's degree program in the fifth semester of the following year.

- CPGE integration file to be completed and signed.
For students changing majors in Semester 2 of their first year or Semester 4 of their second year of the current academic year, a Joint Committee will decide whether yourfirst semester will be fully (30 ECTS) or partially recognized.
For students changing course in L2 in Semester 3 or L3 in Semester 5 of the following year, yourfirst orsecond year of CPGE will be taken into account through full validation (60 or 120 ECTS) by a Joint Committee.
If your CPGE year is not validated:
- First year: you can change direction in the first year of your bachelor's degree.
- Second year: you can change direction and switch to a Bachelor's degree program.
Requests for reorientationat the end of the first semester of the current yearmust be submittedby December 15 of the current year.
Requests for reorientationat the end of the academic yearmust be submittedbefore September 30 of the following academic year.
