Council Meeting of May 15, 2019
The Council, chaired by Mr. Alain Hoffmann, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, met on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in the Salle des Actes at the Triolet Campus—University of Montpellier.
The following items were on the agenda:
Computer Donation
The UFR Council unanimously approved the donation of computers to Paul Crouzet Elementary School and Jules Ferry Preschool in Prades-le-Lez (34).
Bachelor's and Master's Degree Examination Regulations – 2019–2020 Academic Year
The exam regulations for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs for the 2019–2020 academic year were presented to the assembly. There were no changes from last year’s document. The exam regulations were unanimously approved by the assembly.
LMD5 – First-Year Bachelor's Degree Programs
Mr. Frédéric LEMOIGNO, LMD5 Academic Coordinator, submitted to the Faculty Council proposals forfirst-yearbachelor’s degree tracks that could be offered, along with their progression options to the second year and the bridge programs proposed by the LMD5 working group.
The Faculty of Sciences Council has issued a favorable opinion on the creation of the following portals:
– Mathematics and Its Applications,
– Computer Science,
– Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Sciences,
– Earth, Water, and Environmental Sciences,
– Life Sciences – Environment, Health,
– Life Sciences and Digital Technologies
Guidelines for Allocating Hours for the LMD5 Program by Academic Department
Ms. Isabelle TOURNIER, Assistant Director of Finance, presented to the assembly a proposed rule for the equitable distribution of teaching hours among departments under the LMD5 system.
It was reiterated that these hours are intended for all teaching activities carried out by faculty members from the departments in all programs under the Bachelor’s-Master’s-Doctorate (LMD) system (including those led by other departments, but excluding other programs such as PeiP, etc.).
Regarding the annual management of teaching hours, Ms. Isabelle Tournier also noted that the excess of authorized hours for each department for the year is equal to the LMD5 hours allocated minus the department’s teaching capacity.
Training Courses
The UFR Council has approved the creationof the University Diploma in “Experimental Techniques in Green Chemistry.”
Mr. Thierry BRETAGNON provided an update onthe CMIs. Some academic departments have come out against the renewal of the CMIs.
Management of Educational Services
Mr. Bernard GODELLE, Academic Director of the Master’s Programs, provided an update on the schedule and procedures for managing teaching services at the Faculty of Sciences. It was reiterated that the data from APOGEE serves as the official reference.
