“Spotlight on (In)visible Biodiversity”

Led by Frédérique Carcaillet (UMR MARBEC), a faculty member and researcher at the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Montpellier and a museologist, this project is part of the NaturCom Chair at the University of Montpellier Foundation. This exhibition for the general public will feature three major subthemes that can be displayed together or separately.

Much like an inventory, the exhibition’s first subtheme invites visitors to discover the species that make up “hidden biodiversity”: species buried in the ground, nocturnal species, microscopic species, species that live in remote environments, and so on. The second subtheme will focus on biodiversity inventories (protocols, tools, programs, and expeditions), and the third will focus more on biases related to biodiversity, including biases in species representation, perceptual biases, and taxonomic biases.
