The Boutographies exhibit at the Faculty of Science - Saturday, May 24, 2025
Les Boutographies confirms its privileged link with the Faculty of Science, but in situ this year. For the past 3 years, students from theTU d'écriture créative and the association S.C.R.I.B.E.S - Salon de Création Récréative et d'Initiation Bienveillante à l'Écriture par les Scientifiques - have had the opportunity to exhibit their texts at the Pavillon Populaire, in resonance with the work of a guest photographer.
An emblematic festival
In the Boutographies editorial by Agnès Robin (deputy mayor of Montpellier), we learn or recall that "the Festival (...) organized by the Grain d'Image association, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Launched in 2000 by a group of photography enthusiasts, this festival dedicated to new European photography has acquired a solid reputation in France and abroad over the years. No fewer than 567 photographers from 34 different countries have shared their vision of the world with us over the 25 years of this adventure".
The new partnership with the Faculty of Science
Jean-Michel Marin, Director of the Faculty of Science, is determined to enrich the profile of science students, so as to train not only specialists, but also citizens. To mark the structure's identity, the iconic Building 36, an essential stopping-off point, has been transformed into an exhibition hall, much to the delight of visitors. Ahead of the official start of the festival on May 10, the date of April 4 was chosen to allow students still on the premises to take advantage of this unique experience.
François Winants' "Living the Time" series is a collection of works on the phenomena that structure our climate system. It is presented as a set of invisible stories revealing the forces and temporalities that inhabit our world, while questioning the environment on different scales: local, global and temporal.

Under the leadership of Christian Maccotta (artistic director of Les Boutographies) and Sonia Chalbi (in charge of Arts, Culture and Science), the Faculty of Science is now part of the Parallèle[1] section of the festival. And, as in previous years at the Pavillon Populaire, the texts produced by the students are on display in Building 36 until they are taken down on June 2. A writing workshop in the presence of the artist gave birth to fourteen different yet complementary fragments: poems, micro-fiction, pleas for nature. Congratulations and thanks to the authors for their voices, which bear witness to the enthusiasm generated by environmental issues.
FDS on the Vélo Boutos route
In another innovation, the "Living the time" exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday May 24 from 10am to 5pm. It will be one of the stops on the VéloBouto exhibition route.
Families and festival cyclists can explore Building 36 and watch a screening of animated eco-poems created by Geological Hazards and Geodym Masters students. They can also take part in a writing workshop (registration required) linked to the photographic series.
A great turnout for this first edition, which we hope will be followed by many more!
