Applications / Admissions: I was already a student at FdS in 2020 - 2021

Welcome to the Faculty of Science Admissions / Applications page

Back to school in 2021

This page is for students who were enrolled in the Faculty of Science in 2020-2021.

Consult the Faculty of Science's training offer

You must apply for a Master's degree, even if you were a student at the FdS in 2020-2021.
You were registered in 2020 - 2021 in L1 or L2 at the Faculty of Science
You do not need to apply, you must re-register in L2 or L3 via ENT ...
But there are exceptions (see below) !!!!!

- L2 Life Sciences (See green box below)

- Licence Pro EDEN

- L2 Earth Sciences course CME-SVT

- Licence Pro EVAPPMT

- Licence Pro CMLC

- Licence Pro AES

- L2 Chemistry Pre-PAC

- L3 Chemistry Pro-PAC

- L3 Prépa DNO

Students from L1 SVSE (ex MONOD) or a course under agreement with FdS (ex CPGE or PASS)

To gain access to the Life Sciences Bachelor's degree program, whatever your path, you must apply via E-candidat.

Prerequisites for the various courses

Acceptance is not automatic, whatever your previous course of study: it is decided on the basis of your application by an academic committee, and is subject to capacity.

Capacity: 160 students

For students coming from a training program under agreement with FDS (e.g. CPGE or PASS): access to L2 BE, as to L3 BE, is not automatic either; it also requires a dossier (eCandidat) evaluated by a pedagogical commission.

The BE pathway is a general, rather theoretical pathway in the Life Sciences(although practical applications are an important part of the training). It prepares students for further study at Master 1 level.
The main disciplines of this course are Evolutionary Biology, Scientific Ecology, Organismal Biology, as well as Mathematics and Statistics. NB: This course involves the handling and dissection of animal and plant organisms. The committee will therefore assess the candidate's ability to succeed in this course on the basis of his/her academic record.

Applicants for the L2 BE must clearly state their motivation inthe compulsory questionnaire to be enclosed with their application, as well as what they would like to do after the degree, so that the committee can make the best possible assessment of the suitability of the course for their study and career plans.
Enrolment is possible after an L1 SVSE (ex-Monod) obtained at the Faculty of Sciences (FDS) of the University of Montpellier, or after an equivalent L1 obtained outside the FDS courses of the University of Montpellier (or equivalent higher education: preparatory class, rarely DUT/BUT, exceptionally BTS). In all cases, including L1 SVSE students from the FDS of Montpellier or students from institutions under agreement with the FDS, the registration procedure is carried out via the Faculty of Science's e-candidat portal.

The course is in high demand, and our intake capacity is limited, with a maximum of 160 students, including repeaters. In previous years, we have received over 400 applications for L2, and we have selected 130 to 150 students from L1 SVSE (ex-Monod), and 10 to 30 from outside (excluding L1 FDS). On average, over 70% of the external applications we accepted came from other universities (SV and SVT bachelor's degrees outside Montpellier) (NB: 10-20 places for external students in L3 BE, >250 applications; >90% of applications accepted came from other universities).

If you are interested in ecology, evolution and/or the biology of organisms, we encourage you to also apply to other universities offering courses similar to the BE course (BOP, BOPE, SVT, etc.), to maximize your chances of being accepted in a course corresponding to your expectations.

Acceptance is not automatic, whatever your previous course of study: it is decided on the basis of your application by an academic committee, and is subject to capacity.

Capacity: 30 students

For students coming from a training program under agreement with FDS (e.g. CPGE or PASS): access to L2 IS, as to L3 IS, is not automatic either; it also requires an application (eCandidat) evaluated by a pedagogical commission.

The Prépa Concours Agro Véto course is a specific training program offered during the first two years of the Life Sciences bachelor's degree program at the Montpellier Faculty of Science. Its aims are to provide a foundation of knowledge and methodologies on the major properties of living organisms (from the molecular scale to that of organisms interacting with their environment and populations), as well as supporting knowledge and skills in mathematics, chemistry, physical sciences and languages, and to prepare students for the written and oral entrance exams to the national agronomy and veterinary schools.

Acceptance into the PCAV course at L2 level is not automatic, regardless of your previous course of study: it is decided on the basis of your application by a pedagogical committee, and depends on the course's capacity.

The application must be submitted on the Faculty of Science's eCandidat software platform during the period indicated when applications are open.

Reminder: Students are assigned to a course during the course of the year (S3).
