The Role of the UFR Council
The UFR Council is the body authorized to discuss and propose policies regardingfinancial matters(annual budget, grants, etc.),human resources(approval of job descriptions, etc.),and academic matters(academic calendar, agreements, etc.) for the Faculty of Sciences in Montpellier. Minutes of the meetings are drafted, sent to Council members, and posted on the Faculty’s website after approval by the Council.The Council elects its Director for a five-year term.The Council meetsmonthly.
Members of the UFR Council
The Council consists of40 voting members: 10 university professors and equivalent faculty members (Group A) elected for a four-year term,
- 10 other faculty members, lecturers, and equivalent staff (Group B) elected for a four-year term,
- 4 representatives of administrative and technical staff (BIATSS group) elected for a 4-year term,
- 8 student representatives and 8 alternates (USAGERS college) elected for a two-year term,
- 5 local government representatives(Occitanie–Pyrénées–Méditerranée Regional Council, Hérault Departmental Council, Occitanie Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Montpellier Métropole, and Occitanie Regional Economic, Social, and Environmental Council) appointed for a four-year term by their respective governing bodies,
- 3 external individuals serving in a personal capacity, nominated by the Council members and approved by a Council vote. They are elected for a 4-year term.
The permanent guests onthe Faculty Council,with advisory status, are:
– the Assistant Directors,
– the Directors of academic departments,
– the Administrative Director of the Division and his or her deputies,
– heads of departments and/or divisions,
– heads of the University of Montpellier’s research divisions or their representatives.
The Power of Attorney
A voter who is unable to vote in person may grant a written proxy to a proxy holder listed on the same voter roll. To do so, the proxy form may be obtained: –in person, from Mr. Gilles Guévellou, Administrative Director; Ms. Béatrice Goujon, Deputy Administrative Director; or Ms. Sandra Gaucerand, Executive Assistant, in Building 30 on the Triolet Campus, in the Administration Wing.The principal will be asked to present a form of identification.–electronically,attaching the principal’s form of identification,by sending an email toadressefds-elections@umontpellier.fr.Les. Proxy forms may besubmitted from Friday, February 18, through Monday, March 21, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. Any request submitted after this date will be rejected. On election day, the proxy holder must present the signed proxy form along with their own valid form of identification (national ID card, passport, residence permit, driver’s license, or valid CMS) and a copy of the principal’s valid form of identification. A proxy holder may not hold more than two proxies.
