Sick Leave

Sick leave

Regular sick leave is granted to an employee upon presentation, within 48 hours, of a medical certificate stating that the employee is unable to work.

The following are affected:

  • Tenured and probationary staff (BIATSS, faculty, and faculty researchers).
  • Contractual staff (administrative, technical, faculty, and faculty-researchers).
  • The employee must submit the sick leave form to their immediate supervisor within 48 hours of the date the form was issued—with a copy to fds.gestionrh@umontpellier.fr -.
  • Permanent employees: If a notice of temporary disability is not submitted within 48 hours on two separate occasions within a 24-month period, the permanent employee is subject to a 50% reduction in pay for the period between the deadline for submitting the notice and the date it is actually submitted. (This reduction in pay does not apply if the employee provides proof of hospitalization or, within eight days of the sick leave notice being issued, proof that it was impossible to submit the notice in a timely manner.)
  • Contract employees: If the notice of sick leave is not submitted within 48 hours, the contract employee may not receive daily benefits from Social Security.
