Student Engagement (Civic Engagement Track)

In accordance with the University of Montpellier’s Charter on the Recognition of Student Engagement (View the Charter) , the Faculty of Sciences recognizes and values the skills of students who engage in civic activities, particularly when such engagement aligns with the values we consider essential: humanitarian work, health, educational initiatives, solidarity, student life, university sports, etc.
This commitment must be substantial, meaning it must amount to more than 100 hours of work during the academic year. It may take place within academic¹ or non-academic associations, within organizations (civic service, fire department, etc.), on departmental or university councils, etc. It may also be recognized for activities carried out abroad or during a gap year.
•Students must submit an application by mid-October for the first semester and by mid-January for the second semester
• The committee for the relevant academic year decides whether to recognize these competencies: 4 ECTS credits, corresponding to a minimum time commitment of 100 hours
Recognition of student engagement is included in the Diploma Supplement (DS).

- Application deadline for thefirst semester: October 15, 2025
- Application deadline for thesecond semester: January 14, 2026
Step 2: Approval of the academic contract for the admitted student
- Written report (5 pages, excluding the title page, table of contents, bibliography, and any appendices) + Oral defense/Interview (10-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A session) at the end of the academic year.
1.Tutoring/mentoring activities covered by a temporary contract are excluded from this scope.
