CPGE: Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles (Preparatory Classes for Grandes Écoles)

You are enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a scientific "Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Écoles" at a high school in the Montpellier Academy.
As part of the partnership agreement between your high school and the University of Montpellier, you are required to enroll twice in the Faculty of Science in L1 or L2, depending on your level of enrollment in the CPGE.

The specific procedure for this registration will be communicated to you by your CPGE supervisors at the start of the new school year in September.

High school students in Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE) have access to the University of Montpellier under the conditions set out below in the framework agreement between the Rectorat de Montpellier, the University of Montpellier and the high schools of the Montpellier Academy.

To take advantage of the programs described below, you must register with the University at the same time as your CPGE class, according to the procedures and dates defined by the Faculty of Science (which vary from one high school to another).

Reorientation during the year

This is a personal decision on your part: at any time during your CPGE studies, you can continue your studies at the Faculty of Science and take the exams.

You must go to the Registrar's Office on the site where you wish to take your bachelor's degree courses, to modify your administrative registration and to register for your course. At this point, depending on your CPGE course (whether or not you have obtained the corresponding 30 ECTS), the department head will define the validated teaching units and authorize your registration for the even-numbered semester.

At the end of the academic year

If the class council has validated your preparatory class course, you can access university studies at various bachelor's degree levels. This authorization is granted by the UFR Sciences Pedagogical Commission, under the following conditions:

=> Access to Licence 2:
Students who have completed the 1st year of the CPGE will be granted equivalence for access to the 2nd year of a scientific licence, provided they meet the following conditions:

  1. Hold 60 ECTS credits obtained with at least grade D, including in the core subjects required for further study.
  2. Have obtained a favorable opinion from your home establishment
  3. Have obtained a favourable opinion from the Montpellier Faculty of Science's pedagogical committee

=> Access to Licence 3:
A 2nd year student obtains an equivalence to access L3 of scientific licence, subject to fulfilling the following conditions:

  1. 120 ECTS credits obtained with at least grade D, including in the core subjects required for further study
  2. Have obtained a favorable opinion from your home establishment
  3. Have obtained a favourable opinion from the Montpellier Faculty of Science's pedagogical committee
